Lakewoods Forest Ridges Golf Course in Northern Wisconsin

Northern Wisconsin boasts some truly stunning golf courses. Big Fish in Hayward is a personal favorite, along with Nemadji, Apostle Highlands, and the charming 9-hole Poplar Golf Course.

This summer, I visited a new 18-hole course in Northern Wisconsin, which, though a bit remote from the bigger towns, is definitely worth the drive!

The Lakewoods Forest Ridges Golf Course, about 10 miles east of Cable on County Highway M, is a hidden gem immersed in the rugged wilderness of Northern Wisconsin. The lack of nearby development—so remote that I lost cell phone coverage during my round—makes it a perfect spot to disconnect and enjoy a round of golf.

Despite its remote location, the course is well-maintained, challenging, and beautifully rugged.

Exploring Lakewoods Forest Ridges Golf Course

Surrounded by pine, oak, and tamarack trees and dotted with ponds and wetlands, this course features notable elevation changes that add a unique challenge. From the back tees, it plays 6,062 yards with 13 of the 18 holes over 300 yards long. The longest hole stretches 494 yards.

Two standout holes are the par-3 7th, which plays 183 yards from an elevated tee box across a wetland, and the par-3 13th, a 181-yard hole over a tree-lined pond that is particularly picturesque.

If you’re looking for a golf adventure, Lakewoods Forest Ridges Golf Course is definitely worth a visit. The course is owned by Lakewoods Resort, located on Lake Namekagon, making it a great spot for a golf getaway.
