MILWAUKEE — At Washington Park, an early voting block party encouraged people to register and vote during Wisconsin’s early voting period, which starts on October 22.
In 86 days, voters will head to the polls to choose the next U.S. president.
“This is what people have fought for—to have the right to vote and know that their vote matters,” said Democratic Rep. Robin Kelly from Illinois.
Democrats are reminding people that they can vote early.
“If you’re bringing food for the volunteers, you should have already voted,” said Rep. Gwen Moore of Wisconsin’s fourth congressional district. “It helps us gauge where to focus our efforts and how much energy to put into different areas.”
In 2016, former President Donald Trump won Wisconsin, but in 2020, President Joe Biden narrowly won the state. Earlier this week, Harris and Walz attended a rally in Eau Claire, while Republican Vice Presidential nominee Senator JD Vance also held an event there.
“I’ve seen elections decided by very narrow margins,” said Kelly.
That’s why Kelly says Democratic volunteers from Illinois will be coming to Wisconsin to help with canvassing and keep the state Democratic.
“Wisconsin, let’s get out to vote. You can make a difference—you have the power,” said Kelly.
